So... I'm pretty sure I don't even need to mention what just went down over the last 24 hours. DeviantArt is notorious for not really listening to its userbase and doing dumb shit, but I guess they thought they could top that! Twitter has been burning itself down for the past weeks thanks to Elon Musk, and at the golden chance of bringing some activity back to their site... DA announces they're sucking up to the AI bros. Awesome.

To who may not be aware, they have since backtracked on their whole move of having everyone opt out manually of having their art be fed to AIs, as the option to not have your deviations included is now on by default and is also an option under Account Settings > General. Nonetheless, that is just damage control for the mess they already got themselves into.

Yeah, they may have finally made it so you have to OPT IN by default, and not OPT OUT, but there's much that remains fuzzy, and the damage is going to spread out far more than they think. They are still going through with DreamUp, which is based off Stable Diffusion (whose database already has lots of art obtained without permission) and lots of people have deactivated in a flash. Considering all the times they've failed their userbase, this was most likely the last straw for many people, and I have no doubt this has driven away potential new users. AI art is still a rather controversial topic, and instead of letting the air clear around it, DA has decided they would jump in before the craze dies off. (They themselves have admitted to this in a Twitter Space, by the way) I'm not going to get into specifics or opinions about AI art because it's a really complex topic, but you can tell I'm not quite thrilled either.

Now, I won't be immediately leaving anytime soon. I honestly feel too attached to this place, as I've met great people, and there's an endless trove of art and guides that can be browsed and archived fantastically. It also archives all my art and progression as an artist really nicely. I do not intend to deactivate, but should things get worse, I won't hesitate to pull out all my art, as much as it may hurt. I'm already sparsely active but this is just going to decrease my activity more. It's a shame, because I still want to root for this site. It's long fallen from grace but it's genuinely a good place for art in today's social media world. But if DA themselves are not going to care, it might be time to look other ways.

I have a few more sites I'm much more active at, and that I recommend keeping an eye out for more of my art. It's funny to say this because this is the platform I have least following in, but nonetheless.

So yeah, what an insane few hours to say the least. I will probably halt posting a bit until this blows over and see what I'll do. Take care everyone.

Hey all! I'm really excited to share with you all a little something I've been working on for a few weeks now: A website of my own!

It's not a big deal, but I worked hard on it so I really wanna share it lol. Basically, it's the one stop for all my things, such as my art, my mods, OC information, and a blog too! I tried many times before to make a site of my own but it never really stuck, however with this one I'm looking to stick with it for a long while! All my art, organized per year can be found there. You will also find my mods, organized by game, and information about my OCs, and some of the short stories! I'll also have a blog to ramble about things.

This is not meant to replace any of my existing social medias, but complement them. Twitter is frankly trash at archiving old works, which makes it hard for people to see them. While my DA reliably hosts all my art, and will continue doing so, I want to have my own space to share the art alongside my other creations too, which is where my site comes in. I'm also sharing an art archive using Google Drive, where ALL my art from 2016 to now can be seen. There's many pieces not posted here in DA to keep things organized, but this archive has everything.

So yeah! I've been working at it for a little while, and made lots of graphics for it such as the background and logo. Have fun browsing around, and expect more art soon!

Wow, I had not touched my DA profile pic since December XD

Anyway, I posted about this in both my YouTube and Twitter, but I figure I should say it here too; soon I'll be revamping my identity online! For a long time, I've been going by Ninten/NintyYoshi just about everywhere, from 2017 to be exact. Heck, this username (DeviantYoshi64) was made all the way in 2015! While I'm still mostly the same person, same interests and all, I feel the username and look no longer suits me. As such, I'm in the process of giving a facelift to all my social media! The main change is that my identity results less tied to Nintendo, but still keeps the Yoshi part, as I still love the character. Expect to see the full facelift coming soon! I gotta get core so I can actually uh, change my name. Thankfully it's cheap for a month

But yeah! More art and stuff will be on the way of course, I just want to get this change going first of all. Have a small teaser in the meantime!

Hello there! Hope everyone's been well! Been a LONG time since I used a journal. XD

Just thought I'd write one real quick to say that I plan to make some timelapse/speedpaint videos of my art moving forward, and I may upload them to my YouTube channel! Clip Studio Paint lets me record my process pretty seamlessly, so might as well put it to good use!

I'm starting things off with my latest piece, DDR Yoshi Mix! Pretty simple stuff for now. Not all my art may have a timelapse, most likely only the more complete and complex pieces will have one. Nonetheless, if that's your thing, feel free to give em a look! I also upload all sorts of content on my YT. Timelapses should hopefully go up alongside the piece or a few hours later and will be linked in the description.
